AMY ACKER
Amy Acker plays “Sugar Monkey,” a young woman who comes home from work wanting nothing more than to curl up with her new obsession-the seemingly innocent but highly addictive board game, Settlers of Catan. To all appearances, the definition of sweetness, her magnetic smile hides depths of rage and volatility borne from the pet peeves and unspoken resentments that have accumulated over the course of her marriage. Acker is best known for her work with Joss Whedon on the television series Angel and Dollhouse. She also appeared in Cabin in the Woods and starred in Much Ado About Nothing. She has appeared on numerous shows such as Alias, CSI, How I Met Your Mother, Happy Town, No Ordinary Family, Grimm, Once Upon a Time, The Good Wife, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Private Practice, October Road and Supernatural. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, where she graduated Lake Highlands High School, Amy Acker is the oldest of four children, two sisters and one brother. An acting major at Southern Methodist University, Amy acted in several college theater productions. She appeared in various roles during the fantasy segments for the popular award-winning children’s TV series Wishbone, which was filmed in Texas and consisted of Dallas theater actors. She will soon appear in the feature film Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife and can currently be seen playing Samantha “Root” Groves on Person of Interest.
FRAN KRANZ
Fran Kranz plays Sugar Monkey’s husband. An unemployed comic artist and man-child of the highest order, he couldn’t pay a bill on time to save his life, but he takes his games seriously. He has always been able to make his wife laugh–though lately, the joke has been wearing thin. He and his wife are either perfect complements or an apocalyptic mismatch. Kranz made his television debut on Frasier back in 1998. Since then he has appeared on numerous television programs including: Dollhouse, Welcome to the Captain, Private Practice, The Good Wife and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. His film credits include Matchstick Men, Training Day, Donnie Darko, Orange County, The Village, The TV Set, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules and Cabin in the Woods. Fran has also cut his chops on Broadway where he played the role of Bernard opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman and Andrew Garfield in Mike Nichols’ 2012 staging of Death of a Salesman. Kranz started acting in third and fourth grade and knew from a very young age that he wanted to be an actor. Kranz grew up in Los Angeles, California and attended Harvard-Westlake High School. Kranz graduated in 2004 from Yale University, where he was a member of the improv comedy group The Ex!t Players. He recently starred alongside Greg Kinnear and Nikki Reed in Murder of a Cat, and can soon be seen on Season Three of Dallas.
